Wherever Nina Lies
This book was really good. It's about a girl whose sister went missing and she doesn't believe shes really dead, even after a long time. So she meets this dark stranger and decides to go on a trip across the country with him following clues to find her sister... Weird twist at the end, very quick read!

So this post will pretty much be a rambling of sorts of all the stuff that I have been thinking about recently....
To start... only one month till I graduate! Most people would be excited, and don't get me wrong, I am excited, but... its a bit terrifying! I have been in school since I was 3 (I did preschool twice, my parents wanted to socialize me, since I was an only child) so that means almost 21 years of schooling! So, probably a quarter of my life... wow. And it's sad because I will have my Masters, which isn't an overly common thing at our age, but that doesn't matter, my bioengineering bf will always be making more money and be more in demand! Not that I mind, but its sad that I went into so much debt to get something that won't be as fruitful as some less expensive (both money and time-wise), but at least I know I will love it! So anyways, I don't know how to feel about the whole thing, but it will just be hard to adjust to not having school... and I don't know if I will be able to find a job, but I hope to god that I will, because it is so hard right now to find anything, especially library jobs! I am certified to work in pretty much every library, but carnegie is downsizing, and so many schools are too! That doesn't help me much!
In other random news, have you ever heard a song and been like... these are good lyrics, and they are a good message... and i looooove them... It's terrible I know, because this song is not anything special, its popular, but not because its anything like musical mastery, but I love the lyrics: "I see your face drop, I told you not to count me out, cause you always tried to fill me with doubt, saying that I'd look better if I was thinner, don't you know you shoulda loved me for my inner, when I left you, I came out a winner" I don't know why I like it so much, I just think, maybe it's a good message...
So i've been listening to books on CD in the car, because I have a pretty decently long drive to school and home, so I decided it was time to finish the Twilight series, because I only ever read the 1st, since I had to for a class. Let me say, I thoroughly don't enjoy it. Bella is a whiny bitch and someone I would NEVER want my daughter to look up to. I just finished New Moon, and it was terrible. She spends the first half of the book, or more, just whining about how she can't live or go on without Edward. Then she is like... I could die and it wouldn't be bad, because I've lived through the worst thing ever, which was when Edward left me. Oh god forbid... ppl break up, get over it, move the fuck on! And when she isn't whining about Edward leaving her, she is whining about how much she wants to be a vampire. Seriously... Stephanie Meyers... worst popular author of right now. The only people who love her book are girls who have unrealistic expectations of love. And it hurts me inside when girls are like... OMG I love Edward I want my boyfriend to be just like him. I actually saw an article in a girls magazine for ages 10-15 at school that was about how to get your own Edward. HONESTLY! Yes it would be wonderful if there were guys out there who could save you every single time you are in danger and would protect you blah blah. However, he is a VAMPIRE.... which doesn't exist... and he is a SPARKLY vampire at that... those aren't sexy! The last thing I wanna do is be blinded by a vampire... it would make it easier for him to throw me off and suck my blood. And then Edward talks about how Bella smells so good and he wants to taste her and has to push off the temptation.... could you use a more ridiculous metaphor for virginity and sex, really. I picked up book 3 and 4 from the library today... I will let LJ know how I feel about those when I finish them. I think I might start posting small book reviews on here, as I have FINALLY been able to start reading again! Granted, most of the books have been middle school books, because that is what I have the easiest access too.
Books
The Boy Who Dared by Susan Bartoletti
This was an interesting book, based on an actual boy who is sitting on death row, imprisoned by Hitlers men, and his flashbacks to what lead up to his imprisonment. It was so good, especially for the age level it was written for. As far as historically accurate, I think it was done really well and it was a quick read.
A Corner of the Universe by Ann Martin
This book was incredible and I only read it because a parent asked us to take it off the shelf, because she thought it was inappropriate for 5th and 6th graders. It's about a girl with a weird family dynamic and an uncle who until recently lived far away at a special school but comes back and has serious mental issues. After reading it, I agree... not appropriate for middle schoolers, but it's still great for adults or older kids.
Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World by Vicki Myron
This book was amazing. People try to compare it to Marley, but it wasn't supposed to be a story just like Marley, but it was incredible. Not just for librarians or people who love cats. It is just touching all around.

It's about a fat girl who is entered in the Miss Husky Peach contest by her bitchy aunt. It's hilarious so far, but I am only a few chapters in. Will updated more on it later!

I bet I will hate this too. I will write when I finish it.

Annies Questions
1: If you could be a figure from Egyptian mythology who would it be?
- Anubis, because he is bad ass. Just look him up and you will be like... hell yes, bad ass.
2: What is your opinion on having sex in libraries? (cause i know youll find people doing it later on in your career)
-I don't plan on finding people doing it, as I will be working in an elementary school, so they better not do it! But I've done it in Hillman, so I think its alright if you are of age!
3: What is your favorite food, and least favorite?
-Fav. is.... Fajitas or peanut butter in ice creme. Least fav. is.... Sushi
4: How is the kitty?
-Getting enormous, and now we have to try really hard to keep her in the house! She loves growling at the birds.
5: Pick a disney princess you would most want to be and why...?
-Aurora/sleeping beauty, because she is the only one who isn't totally weak. It wasn't here fault that she pricked her finger, she was under a spell, so technically, she didnt make a stupid decision like the rest of them! Also, she is gorgeous and can sing.. which I wish I could do! (in a close second place is Mulan, even though she is technically not a princess)

-Piano playing... or... writing in hieroglyphics? I dont think that counts, but I have no other talents...

So after reading annas post, i thought i should post.... because on my way to my car tuesday, i slipped and fell down 6 of the steps in the front of my house! Amazingly, I only bruised my ass, however, I did manage to rip a hole in my jeans and the underwear underneath! How that happened I will never know.... thank you concrete! In other news, I need help deciding on what 'britney' I want to be for my birthday and would like all your input (that is, if anyone even reads this anymore! ) Dan has suggested the old britney circa hit me baby one more time. Others have suggested more recent britney. I am up for any opinions, photos, etc. I don't want to be white trash britney or fat gimme gimme more MTV movie awards britney. Although, depending on weight gain between now and then... maybe I will be! So lemme hear some ideas and suggestions! Thanks!

So... as we now have a kitten, and there are ridiculous pictures of her up on facebook. (more than necessary because I like to take random pictures a lot!!) So we were trying to figure out some good lol quotes (by we i mean me zack and dan). If you see any pictures and see anything that strikes your fancy, POST it on there as a comment so we can see!! Hopefully our kitty will be a lol kitty yet! P.s. also ignore the fact that her left eye looks terrible in half the pictures... she had/has a little eye infection, so she squints a lot! Thanks!

I got this from a post on an ANTM community Anna and it looked like fun.
If you were on America's Next Top Model...
Let's all imagine that we are all American women who are at least five feet seven inches tall and thus eligible to make it into the top model house. Imagine you are a top 14 contestant and complete the following sentences:
During casting panel you would learn that: I am shy (more than any of you could ever imagine). But I have a fierce walk because my aunt use to be a model, and went through model training.... (like walking with books, eating properly, etc.) Plus, like Anna, I've seen every episode!
The past contestant I'd likely be compared to is: Analeigh(cycle 11) or Joanie(cycle 6) (cuz she is from a town like 5 minutes from mine!)
In the house I would be: The quiet one, who everyone talks to about their issues, but who tries to never really get involved in the drama.
In makeover they would probably: oh... god only knows... my luck either chop it all off, or make it a terrible color...
My modeling strengths would be: professionalism, drive/want, ability to come through anything (like danielle in cycle 6)
My modeling weaknesses would be: shyness, lack of model knowledge (although I would def be reading to catch up on this), my look is too plain
The edit I would get would be: the quiet awkward one who everyone kinda ignores, until she takes an AMAZING picture
I would be eliminated because: Plain look or shyness at panel/a commercial
I would win because: I might surprise everyone and be a great picture taker, and everything just works out right!

Ok girls, here's the deal.... for the first time in almost 2 years I have decided to get a professional hair cut. However, since I have been so out of the haircut loop, I am at a total loss for what i should do.... so i need your help with finding some ideas. So right now, if you haven't seen me... It is brown with a few blonde highlights (that are growing out), and is about 3-5 inches from my butt. I only want to take a few inches off the bottom, but am open to layers, or shaping in the front, etc. I am also debating changing the color, or adding more highlights. The one thing to keep in mind, Courtney's wedding is November 29th. So it can't be anything too crazy. Let me know if you have any ideas! Thanks guys!

Strange... I know...
Today is my third day of graduate classes... and I already feel like theres so much to be done. The classes themselves are in some cases totally terrible, while in others, completely normal and manageable, just like regular college classes. My first class, Retrieving information, is death.... 3 hours of lecture, followed by assignments nicknamed "search and seizures"... and did i mention that 50% of my class mates are over 30? most are fat and not necessarily attractive, AND they are all hardcore overachievers who like fight with each other and the profs.... ridiculous. Class number 2, School Library Media Center Management was significantly better at first, nice profs, a lil more interesting material, still three hours of lecture, but broken up by a nice break, with snacks that they are going to bring every week, etc. then came time for the go around the room, say your name, your experience in school libraries, and 2 things about you.... one girl answered the question by saying "the only thing about me is that i am fantastic. Just fantastic all around. fantastic fantastic blah blah blah" which went on for a good 5-10 minutes. she is most def. not fantastic. i am one of the few in that class who havent been a teacher for the last 10 years.... Nicole = no experience = fail.... tonights class is Psychology of learning and development for education.... 3 more hours of lecture... should be interesting. then tomorrow are my last two classes, understanding information and resources for children. both 3 hours of library fun.
in other news, i had an interview yesterday and now have three jobs.
1. working at the archives 10 hours a week (they pay me min. wage, but i have to do 10 hours a week to keep my scholarship)
2. every other weekend at heinz chapel, still an assistant wedding coordinator
3. every friday from 10-2 and every sunday from 11-7 at Joseph Beth bookstore on the south side
yeah, so don't expect to see a whole lot of me.... i need the money for the car i have to buy now that the blazer finally bit the dust. awesome.
and lastly,
I hope people are coming to the party this weekend, we have been looking forward to having everyone over for so long! And we are gonna have a blast.... we are finishing up the cornhole boards now, they are awesome, we have the basement equipped for some beer pong, and plenty of couch space for people to crash! hope to see you there!!!!

It wouldn't change how you feel
the previous entry was a poem out of a notebook(of which i have a complete photo copy of) written by a 23 year old woman in 1970, who was divorced and had a son. In the notebook she wrote poems notes and other random ramblings, including a note to her ex-husband about how much she hates her son when she looks at him, because of how much he reminds her of the ex. She killed herself in late nov. early dec. Gunshot to her mouth/head.
Things like that make me love my job... as morbid as it sounds, suicide is my new huge interest. I've always kind of been interested, but after seeing the multitude of notes that I do and the various ways different genders an ages use to do it... its Amazing.
